HOW TO VOTE IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN
VOTING REQUIREMENTS: You must be a U.S. Citizen, age 18 by Election Day with an approved photo ID. You must not have been convicted of a felony, or if you have, your voting rights must have been restored. You must be a REGISTERED VOTER.
How to Obtain Photo ID
If you don’t have a driver’s license with photo, or another kind of government photo ID, you can go to the Murfreesboro Drivers’ Service Center to obtain a Voter-only ID, located at:

When you get there, tell an official that you are there to get a voter ID card and you will be put in a special line that moves faster.
Call in advance to make sure they are taking new applicants before 5 pm. If they have long lines, they sometimes stop taking new people earlier than 5 pm on that day.
PAPERS you will need to take with you to Drivers’ Service Center:
- Proof of citizenship, such as copy of birth certificate OR citizenship papers. Better to have copies.
- TWO documents that prove your current address, such as current utility bills, bank statement, vehicle registration papers, a paycheck or something official that you get in the mail.
If your ADDRESS CHANGES after you have registered, you must register again.
After obtaining your voter ID, you then need to register to vote. You can do this at the same office where you get your card, OR at the Rutherford County Election Commission Office at:

You should receive your voter registration card by mail within a week or 10 days or the time you register. If you do not, CALL the Election Commission at (615) 898-7743.
